Tips for Making Public Comments at City Meetings

  1. Check the meeting agenda for the public comment section.
  2. Prepare concise comments on relevant agenda item.
  3. Register at the meeting to speak.
  4. Arrive early and sign in to speak.
  5. If you’re watching remotely, raise your hand online and wait until they call you name.
  6. If attending in person, wait for your turn and approach the microphone.
  7. State your name and affiliation if applicable.
  8. Present your comments clearly and respectfully.
  9. Respect time limits.
  10. Thank the committee.
