Join us Saturday, May 17 at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news that’s been quietly rolling into place…The State Street Loop is launching this May!
Starting Thursday, May 29, downtown Santa Barbara will welcome a new kind of ride — a free, all-electric shuttle service designed to connect people, places, and possibilities.
Created in partnership with the City of Santa Barbara and operated by Sweep SB, the State Street Loop will run every Thursday through Sunday from 12pm–7pm for six months. The route spans from Stearns Wharf to Sola Street, with clearly marked hop-on/hop-off stops along the way.
How it Works
- No app. No schedule. Just hop on.
- Two 5-seater electric golf carts, and one accessible cart, run in a continuous loop.
- Stops are easy to spot — and the ride is 100% free to the public.
Whether you're meeting friends downtown, exploring the area for the first time, or simply enjoying a relaxed stroll along State Street, the Loop is here to help you linger longer and explore with ease. Check out the Loop page for more information.
A Pilot with Purpose
The State Street Loop is one of eleven official short-term action items identified in the City’s State Street Master Plan, and it’s designed to test solutions that support a more walkable, accessible, and vibrant downtown experience.
Friends of State Street is proud to support the City of Santa Barbara to help bring this pilot to life. Your voice matters in shaping what comes next. Onboard iPads will gather quick rider feedback throughout the pilot, giving community members a direct role in the process of refining and expanding downtown mobility.
