175 Years of History
Named in 1850 to honor California’s new statehood, State Street remains the timeless corridor at the heart of Santa Barbara’s story.
153 Years of Connection
Built in 1872 as an extension of State Street, Stearns Wharf is California’s oldest working wooden wharf. It has survived major fires (1973 and 1998) and long closures, reopening to remain Santa Barbara’s most-visited landmark.
