A First Look at the Loop: What We’re Learning From Riders

Tell 'em: I got here on the loop!

State Street Loop

The State Street Loop has been weaving itself into the rhythm of our city’s most cherished street. This innovative and collaborative (City of Santa Barbara, SweepSB and Friends of State Street) pilot project is designed to inform the future public transportation on State Street.

Behind the scenes, our IMPACTLab+Design Studio - connecting expertise to action - brought a data system to life to track the Loop Shuttle metrics for ridership, and feedback from both the riders and drivers. This kind of data-informed insight is a vital part of the pilot project, helping to inform our community’s future public transportation needs.

The chart below shows ridership for the first 6 weekends. The results are very impressive. As our community and visitors learn more about the benefits of riding the Loop Shuttle, the ridership numbers suggest increased usage each and every weekend!

Loop Ridership Data

Thank you to the popular SweepSB drivers and everyone who’s hopped on/off, shared feedback, or simply waved as the Loop passed by.

"I got here on the Loop!"

Let local businesses know you arrived on the Loop! Just say: ‘I got here on the Loop!’ Let’s show this pilot is working — together.

Loop Quote of the Week: “We love the golf carts and use them every weekend. I am 80 and my husband is 82. We walk quite a bit each day and love to take them up State Street as it is uphill. We would love to see them running all year. The guys are terrific who run them!”
