Giving Thanks, from Friends of State Street

Nov 22, 2023

On behalf of Friends of State Street, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement.

With our collaborative “for community, by community” approach, we have successfully partnered with other community organizations to bring to life eight initiatives this year. All of them centered on engaging Santa Barbara in building pride and ownership in State Street – the street we love.

During our community outreach initiatives, we have actively listened to the multitude of thoughts and ideas about State Street’s future. Your input, along with the diverse perspectives we’ve gathered, has been invaluable in shaping these initiatives. Our multigenerational volunteer team, comprised of the Board of Directors and Advisors, reflects our core belief in the power of collective action. We are certain that by working together, we can revitalize State Street to be a vibrant and vital pedestrian-friendly place we can all enjoy for generations to come.

We are embarking on a new initiative in 2024 inspired by a common theme we have heard: a resounding love for our iconic downtown destinations. Please stay tuned to learn more about our May 1st event kickoff—World Class Santa Barbara. This event will be an intimate glimpse into the tales and triumphs of 12 iconic Santa Barbara destinations. Santa Barbara isn’t just a city; it’s a tapestry woven with rich histories, ambitious dreams, and the will of its people. Our World Class Santa Barbara destinations are proof of this and this event will celebrate the very essence of what makes our city extraordinary.

Our heartfelt appeal to you: frequent State Street and bring along a friend. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, indulge in local shops and eateries, take leisurely strolls, and be a part of the remarkable revitalization unfolding in our city. See you there!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Sharon Rich, President
